PBR Locomotive 7A

Locomotive 7A on its first run after a major overhaul. It's good now for another 20 years. When PBR took over the railway from the Victorian Railways in 1962, 7A was painted Brilliant Black with a Red Sash along the sides and a Red Bar above the cow catcher. With its first overhaul in 1985, it was painted Emerald Green with a White Strip around the sides. This was the colour scheme of the Victorian Railways from 1880 until 1903. When Thomas Tait, who came from Canada, took over as the Chief Commissioner in 1903, he set about painting all locomotives in Canadian Red with a Brown Strip front and back. In 1918 with the end of Taits commission, all locomotives were re-painted Brilliant Black.
